Darpan Pudasaini
Darpan is a tech entrepreneur who has been working for almost a decade in innovating solutions to social problems with frontier technologies like sensors and embedded systems, IoT, robotics systems, 3D printing, Extended reality, AI and drones. With the core belief that youth and technology, together, are the answer to minimizing the technological, developmental and social divides, he has been working in capacity building, and technology and skills transfer with an aim to aid in the development of sustainable solutions of real-world problems. From the past four years, he has been working extensively with advocacy, sensitization and capacity building in use of drones in humanitarian response and infrastructure development in South-East Asia, and has been providing trainings to national, international and government agencies as well as youths.
Darpan is a founder of the first Nepalese drone startup called DRONEPAL, that provides Drone as a Service (DaaS), Drone as a Technology (DaaT) and Drone Capacity Building as its primary services, and has been pioneering the use of drones in Nepal. As a significant part of their mission, Dronepal has been prioritizing use of drones in humanitarian purposes as well as DRRM studies – for instance, in studying landslides & glaciers, risk and hazard mapping, community relocation plans, industrial development plans, etc. among others. They have also been leading Nepal’s first drones for medical delivery project in Pyuthan district alongside other partners with an aim to establish a sustainable, scalable and locally-led platform for use of drones in medical services. Darpan is also the founder of a research and development company called EANepal that’s been innovating technologies in the field of health, human-wildlife conflict, education and defense among others since 2013. He is also working as an Innovation, Product and Experience Advisor in a startup APAR that works in researching and developing spatial computing technologies including Augmented, Virtual and Mixed Reality.
